The Xanten cathedral building hut

The Xanten Cathedral Builders' Works is one of eleven workshops of the European Association of Cathedral Builders, Cathedral Builders and Hüttenmeister e.V. that are currently in operation in Germany. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the Cologne cathedral workshop is the largest with around 80 employees, Xanten and Soest are rather smaller companies with around 5 employees. Despite the differences in size, the tasks of the construction huts are comparable. Since 2019, the cathedral building huts have been part of the intangible cultural heritage, and since December 17th, 2020 also in the register of good practice examples of UNESCO.
